Linda Woods: Journal Revolution: Rise Up and Create! Art Journals, Personal Manifestos and Other Artistic Insurrections
I love this book and Linda could be my best friend except I don't mind hugging!
Carter: For The Love of Old
I get this. I've always been drawn to all things old too. Most esp. people. (*****)
May Sarton: Journal of a Solitude
I'm in the midst of this book and it has been a pleasure. If you need time to calibrate this book will get to you. (****)
Anne Frank: The Diary of Anne Frank
My alltime FAV book in childhood. I have read and reread this book a million times I think...I lose myself in the beauty of Anne's brain. (*****)
Let's start w/ THE PINK:
Remember that old door I drug home for $5? Well, here ya go! Instant headboard! Miss M and puppydog. You simply cannot get cuter than this. They are suffering from sheer exhaustion. All that swimming!!!
We've spent every day since Wednesday in the pool.
We started @ Great Wolf Lodge Resort for a belated birthday celebration for our baby girl who is double digits now.
It was fun taking four kids to the waterpark. I always imagined myself with four kids.
Well, these four kids were wonderful. We had a total blast. It was like VEGAS for kids.
Clearly I did not take my Canon Rebel w/ me... But I wasn't going for good photography. Just capturing the memories before my little birds fly away from the nest.
Well, there are all kinds of pink and Miss Meg went to the far end of the spectrum with her new paint color.
The ceiling has a great pitch. She planned to use this shade on all four walls, but I think it will be overwhelming, so we're trying to talk her into just two walls, but she's 10 now and has a mind of her own.
On a lighter note (literally!) here are some wonderful things in my shop up for auction right now.
This vintage old German pin cushion with the fabulous lace and millinery flowers and that velvet lace in the palest shade of pink. Yummy goodness.
These porcelain roses are so delicate I may just have to keep them around for a bit. My favorite junking find of all from last weekend.
And I adore this sweet chintz rose jewelry box. I will have this in the store by early next week.
Happy Pink Saturday ladies. GET PINK! Just click on the link for a whole show of PINK! Thanks Beverly.
There is a time to work.
And there is a time to rest.
Right now is a time to rest.
I'm resting.
Didn't even paint the fence...
Although as I'm sitting in my most recent estate sale finds, under the shade of my pretty tree, I can't help but ponder what color I should repaint these oh so wonderful chairs.
We're down to our last two rooms in this house with carpet. Slow, but steady!
Dexter is always around to assist. Sadly his dark brown eyes don't show up in photos. Weird.
No more vintage. No more shabby. This is Meggie's room and she's got a style all her own. Think hot pink walls and black accents. I tried to convert her, but she won't have it!
Today the picket fence gets its first coat of paint.
Plus, we're finalizing the contract for our workshop. This way Mr. Fix It can move his OPERATION out there. Tools galore, his muscle car, etc, etc. This frees up a four car garage which we're going to convert half of. One portion will be my new business offices. I've operated out of my studio for the last two years. As my business has grown (thankfully!) I've outgrown my space. I need room to store inventory, shipping materials, and all of the computer/printer equipment. The business has choked out the creative. Behold my desk:
Sad. I can find everything, but I constantly lose my scissors and packing tape as you can well imagine. Worse yet is the loss of my creative side. I miss my Art Journal most of all. Can't exactly create here can you?
Volleyball camp. Basketball camp. Pole vaulting camp. Bedroom redo. Just drew up the plans (well, Mr. Fix It and his awesome architect skills... he can EVEN draw in scale!) and got a quote for our new metal building (it's huuuuuuuuugeeee!). Doc appointments. eBay listing (not my favorite part). I don't know if I can keep this schedule up. I'm always in my vehicle. Coming or going. I pass myself on a regular basis! Plus keeping the troops fed and the fur/feather babies fed & medicated. Shewwwww... Pretty soon they'll have to just take me to the dump along w/ all that old yucky carpet!
On a happy note: after getting the newest copy of Romantic Country I couldn't sleep!!! So much inspiration.
Love that dresser! :SIGH: If you can't find this issue in your area you can find it in my eBay store: HEART-SHAPED ROCK COTTAGE. Just plug ROMANTIC COUNTRY into the search box. They've been selling like hotcakes as I gather they're not readily available everywhere.
This magazine made me want to repaint everything!!!
Estate sale find in the pit of the garage. $2 First coat!
Garage sale. $1. This think is huge! Not sure what I'm doing with it. After Meg & I pulled out nails for an hour I'll figure something out. Can't decide between white or cream.
A wonderful corner shelf being modeled by my track star who needs a haircut! Bless his heart! Tried bright yellow. Not so much. Tried pink and ran out of paint. So it's a nice combo. Didn't fit in any corner in my shabby rooms so I imagine this one will be headed to the store. It's about 2-3 feets in length. I'm thinking I need to do something about the two tone thing though.
Okay, Cami out!
The posts are set. All 15 of them. In cement. Gave the post hole digger and Mr. Fix It a real work out.
The view out the back pasture. So serene. Look @ those skies.
Off to the North there's one thunderstorm about 150 miles from here near Wichita Falls. Gorgeous. My orange cats and I just walked the "back 40" trying to get a few pics before sunset. Of course, Ali & Minnie were too busy hunting and rubbing against my legs to pose for a pic.
Have a blessed Father's Day weekend. We have many surprises in store for Mr. Fix It!
Time to report on the progression of our picket fence. It's going to be white. At least I think so right now. 15 posts have been cement set. That took two straight evenings. The bedroom awaits. When the weather is cooperating we work outside. This fence will allow Mr. Puppy Dog (Dexter Doolittle) some more freedom. We tried the whole electric fence, but the first time we tested it and the dog screeched I made Mr. Fix It put it back in the box.
And isn't the Elgin clock cute? So shabby fun! Just sold it in my store and get this: I mailed it to the street I grew up on in Colorado. Just a few blocks down. It truly is a small world.
