Linda Woods: Journal Revolution: Rise Up and Create! Art Journals, Personal Manifestos and Other Artistic Insurrections
I love this book and Linda could be my best friend except I don't mind hugging!
Carter: For The Love of Old
I get this. I've always been drawn to all things old too. Most esp. people. (*****)
May Sarton: Journal of a Solitude
I'm in the midst of this book and it has been a pleasure. If you need time to calibrate this book will get to you. (****)
Anne Frank: The Diary of Anne Frank
My alltime FAV book in childhood. I have read and reread this book a million times I think...I lose myself in the beauty of Anne's brain. (*****)
This is Dexter. At naptime. With his much-loved baby Cosmo. He has an arsenal of toys. Dex just celebrated his 1st birthday. He's supposed to be a chihuahua, but he looks more like a papillon crossed with a border collie. Dex is the sweetest. We waited a very long time to get a puppy after our beloved german shepherd, Runway, died of cancer in 1996. Dexie was worth the wait.
We have a farm here. Eleven chickens (all girls), the pup and five kitties. Two house kitties, two barn kitties and one who can't make up her mind. Lucy, Lili, Toby---house cats. Ali and Min---mousers. Min is the hunter. Ali is more of a lover. Both marmelade-ish.
There's a pet party @ my friend Nancy's blog: My Crafty Little Page. Head over!

Mr. Dexter Doolittle got a new fence on Father's Day!
Behold the fence! Needs paints, but it's gorgeous! Pickets done in one day by Mr. Fix It and his trusty sidekick, Mr. Fix It Jr. Such a team. Meg and I cut & drilled a few holes ourselves!
And another view. Most of the time there are horses grazing out in the back pasture. This is my view from the kitchen window.
Father's Day was celebrated on the back porch over a grilled steak dinner. I used 100 tealights from IKEA and created an outdoor fairyland. The lightning bugs were much more magical though. Hard to outdo God's little creations! We dined on top sirloin, red potatoes done on the grill girl scout style followed by cherry pie. Zach is our resident dessert chef. At 12 he does it better than any of us and seems to enjoy it more too. So Z created a cherry pie for his Dad. We then gatherered around THE FIRE PIT to roast marshmallows long after the sun went down. We all retired late knowing we had a full day in front of us. Volleyball camp has started for Sister Golden Hair and Project Hardwood Floors commenced @ 0800 hours. Report to follow.
Hope everyone had a fine, fine Father's Day. We surely did.
The posts are set. All 15 of them. In cement. Gave the post hole digger and Mr. Fix It a real work out.
The view out the back pasture. So serene. Look @ those skies.
Off to the North there's one thunderstorm about 150 miles from here near Wichita Falls. Gorgeous. My orange cats and I just walked the "back 40" trying to get a few pics before sunset. Of course, Ali & Minnie were too busy hunting and rubbing against my legs to pose for a pic.
Have a blessed Father's Day weekend. We have many surprises in store for Mr. Fix It!
Toby in a box. This box fits him like my bathing suit fits me. Barely!
A gift that arrived in the mail today from the lovely Rebecca Sower.
Even her presentation is super cute. Love the yellow seambinding. Yellow is the happiest color. Although I remain forever true to my dear aqua.
Check out these precious baby shoes with the pink tongue. I just fell in love.
They came in the original box. Won them at a local auction. Think folding chairs, metal building and stone cold nacho cheese over stale chips. Yep, I really wanted these! And a few other things too. You'll find these in my store soon.
Yes, even insomnia is cute. Toby and I both up @ 3:45a.m. on May 22nd.
Then my boy abandons me a little after 4:00a.m. :SIGH:
(Blinds are not cute.) Blame it on the kitchen. We have kitchen-itis.
And see that pink door in the background? It's cute. I'm about to make it into my new headboard. That will be super cute.
I'm all out of cute though. And hoping not to repeat my insomnia escapades. I just get so excited about life I want to eek out every single second.
Cami out!
I have my eyes on the goal! The end result! I AM FOCUSED!
Get those panels done and get those babies in the mail!
I've had 6 out of 8 done for weeks and weeks.
And alas, today was the day. I finished! And they are in the enroute to Karla and Beth's house specifically!!!
My contribution:
Ali and I would like to wish you all a super comfy night tonight. It's storming here and being married to a meteorologist (yep, Mr. Fix It) means we're running solo tonight. And alas, my blondie is at sleepaway camp with the entire 4th grade for a few nights so it's just me, Z w/ his strep throat, Ali the Marmalade Wonder Boy and the rest of the zoo.
Again, have a super comfy night. And NO TORNADOS PLEASE!
An old kitchen cabinet: TRANSFORMED!
Welcome to the Poop Palace. Private kitty entrance on the right hand side!
The plastic pan is actually a 39 gallon tote from Target. It holds 54 lbs. (yep, 54 lbs!) of Tidy Cat Scoop for Multiple Cats. Each box of litter is 27 lbs of litter and costs about $10 each. We only have to change it once a month. We scoop daily. Sometimes twice. We being the kiddos!
No odor (at all) and easy clean up. I swear! And I have a zoo.
The top is on hinges for easy scoopability!
And can you beat the vintage bakelite handles?
Cat litter is not the most glamorous of topics, but seeing as everyone poops it seemed practical to post.
The kitchen cabinet is from a used furniture store. Mr. Fix It added hinges and cut out a door. The whole unit lives in the laundry room. It has currently been relocated so we can take the new kitchen tile all the way into a guest bathroom, food pantry, hallway and laundry room. It shall resume its regular position shortly.
THE KITCHEN IS ALMOST DONE!
I own a large format scanner. I do. It took up so much room. I put it in a closet. I needed it when I was scanning two page 12x12's for design teams and publishing my work. Now I do a bit here and there, but mainly just for me.
A few layouts from last month:
The fabric is from a dancing mermaid!
Trying my hand at white space. I tend to be a "more is better than less" kind of chick!
Titled: "That smile is killer Z!". My son has the best smile. He smiles like me. We have the same mouth. We smile like it's our first day on the weather channel! Cheesy!
And finally.
A totally fabulous day at the zoo. Spur of the moment. Spontaneous. Just me and my boy. I don't know how his body contains his huge heart. Totally true. Again, w/ the cheese, but the truth.
We're knee deep in our do-it-yourself kitched remodel. Still debating the sink situation. Picked a floor. Cancelled the order. Decided to go with our original idea and ordered the tile for that. Beadboard is cut and primed. Now to find the perfect shade of white. New knobs arrived and have been installed. :SIGH:
And one real cute chihuahua makes me smile every day. Our Dexie! He's wearing his vest! That's the only piece of clothing he owns, but he wears it proudly!
